History

The Road to Resources was constructed in the late 1970s and was designated as Route 180 in 1984. Several gravel portions were paved in the 1990s.

As the road's colloquial name suggests, Route 180 is primarily a resource road, connecting logging roads and zinc mines with the city of Bathurst, Mount Carleton and the town of Saint-Quentin.
